School of Theatre

 

The Black Repertory Groups' School of Theatre offers a wide variety of educational programs for the entire Bay Area Minority community, designed to educate enrich your theatre experience and we know you will gain a greater appreciation for the Arts through training, education, and the many theatrical classes and performances for the emerging artist  and or the theatre enthusiast.  We offer year round for classes for youth, young adults (teens) and adults in a variety of theatrical disciplines, in addition to the Winter Break Camp, Spring Break Camp, Summer Theatre Intensive programs, a strong mentoring program and an intensive highly regarded internship program.

Black Repertory Group is fully committed to serving all of the Minority Bay Area communities by offering a number of educational programs, leadership programs and community outreach initiatives in addition to our regular season of plays and on-site classes. Our School of Theatre is able to complement and/or implement curriculum-based theatre instruction with a high-level of discipline-based training. 

As an active member of the Bay Area arts community, the Black Repertory Groups' School of Theatre also sponsors a variety of neighborhood programming to educate the community and students as to the importance of education and it's economic and social impact it has on the community.  We strive to educate  youth, young adults (teens) and adults as to the many ways the can positively impact the community they live in.

Health Education Through Theatre Program
HETT utilizes staged productions to promote health education and prevention awareness. Addressing issues: HIV, Violence Prevention, Hypertension, Depression, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and other health related issues.

Community Programs
Internship Program
In collaboration with UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University this multicultural opportunity to study theatre operations: production, lighting, stage design, promotions, marketing and talent management. High School Seniors are encouraged to apply.
 
BRG Art Gallery
Our Gallery Program provides well know and unknown California
Artists an opportunity to display their work during the production run of each MAINSTAGE play.
Exhibits include: Drawings, Paintings, Sculptures, and Photography.
Nora Vaughn's Dance Garden
A new dance floor has been added to BRG Facility and we are currently looking and hosting more Dance Choreography Programs.
